Nepal because of its relative geographic isolation, and because it was closed to Westerns until 1951, epitomizes this exotic. Bhaktapur, a convenient 30-minute bus ride from the smog, noise, and hubbub of Kathmandu, offers the perfect site for these tourist practices, which for a short period, and for profit, "re-enchant" the touristsą lives.
